So in an effort to improve my screenwriting skills, I have decided to delve into the magical world of screenwriting books!
So the book I am currently reading right now is Blake Snyder's, Save the Cat!
While I find it to be a good book that provides some solid information on how to create and sell a screenplay, it seems to be a little skewed towards creating a screenplay that sells well rather than a screenplay that is good. The tips that it provides are definitely helpful so far and presented in a manner that is very easy to undestand, but I worry that the author is focusing too much on the commercial aspects of screenwriting. While I can definitely understand the need to sell screenplays to make a living off an occupation where earning money is hard enough, I need to write a screenplay that has some actual artistic merit.
Otherwise, a solid book on screenwriting that provides some useful tips.
